Message So I have some lightweight BBS wheels that I bought for my E36 325is before insurance totaled it. I decided to sell them, and to avoid shipping hassles, scams, etc, I decided to only post them in my local BMWCCA chapter newsletter. Besides the hardcopy they mail out, the newsletter gets posted as a PDF online, which is where I guess this guy found the info. I don’t get a warm fuzzy from this guy, what do you guys think; scam or legit?

The other question is how do a make a $1K internet deal and not get shafted? I don’t think I’ve ever sold anything that wasn’t local before. Would PayPal be a better option?

His first email:

“Hello....
Am making inquiry on the item you have for sale..However,i'll like to know the price for it....Also,i want to know if it's still available.Do send pictures of it ...
Thanks”

My reply:
“The information was listed in the sale ad.

What city are you in?”

His reply:
“Hello...
Thanks for the mail..i 'll like to know the price for it so we can finalize discussions on the payment..ok..located in Hicksville Ny
Regards”
----------------------
Then I sent him some pics and the following info:
“They are 17x8 ET38 all around and come with Yokohama ES100 tires. 2 tires are about 65%, one 90%, and one is worn slick. I have a brand new, unmounted matching ES100 tire for that wheel. I also have 4 brand new BBS trim rings that cover the lugnuts, new in an unopened box from BBS.

I was hoping to sell the wheels locally so I could get cash in hand for them and avoid having to deal with shipping. I'm asking $1100 for local pickup.

Mike”

The area code he sent is a NY code.

Here’s the ad I posted:
